Obituary for Edna Ernesteen Masters
Edna Ernesteen Masters, 104, resident of Hollis, Oklahoma passed away on November 20, 2020 in Hollis, Oklahoma. Ernesteen was born on July 17, 1916 in Kirkland, Texas to Isaac Newton Lightfoot and Martha Rita (Daniel) Lightfoot. Ernesteen moved to Hollis when she was fourteen and graduated from Hollis High School in 1935. She married the love of her life, Clarence Benjamin Masters on December 6, 1940. Of this marriage the two were blessed with two children, Ronnie and Jana. Ernesteen was a hard worker and always made sure her family was taken care of. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for a year while she was in high school. She worked without pay, just to learn the job in hopes they would hire her once she graduated high school. In 1935, once she graduated the company hired her full time. She also worked for the family businesses, Masters Plumbing Shop and Masters Appliance. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hollis. Ernesteen loved tending to her garden and working around her house, she was very proud of her home and all she and her husband worked for. She loved attending horse shows her daughter was in and never missed one. Ernesteen was a big fan of Hollis High School sports and could be seen cheering them on most Friday Nights.
Ernesteen is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-eight years, Clarence Benjamin Masters; Son, Ronnie Masters; Sister Norene Hage.
Left to honor her memory is her daughter Jana Gaughran and husband Gary; Grandchildren, Michael Masters, Misty Masters, Marina Masters, and Aaron Gaughran; Great Grandchildren, Alex Masters, Lance Corporal Zachary Masters, Brenna Hargiss and Jackson Hargiss.
