Obituary for Edna O. Carney
Edna Carney, 98, went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 17, 2011, at the Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus.
Edna was born on January 6, 1913, in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, to Roland and Belle Mills. Edna married Sampson "Pony" Carney on September 21, 1932, in Quinton, Oklahoma. She worked at Jackson County Memorial Hospital for a number of years and continued to help others throughout her life.
Edna was an extremely loving, caring person who seemed to always have a smile, hug, and an "I love you" for anyone of her family and friends. Edna loved to cook and her family loved to eat her lovingly prepared food, especially her cornbread and fried potatoes. Edna loved to watch wrestling, especially the Von Erichs. She enjoyed Charles Bronson and John Wayne movies, fishing, attending farmers markets, and flea markets. She loved all animals, especially her own. Edna had a heart bigger than one could imagine and was more than willing to share her love.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Sampson "Pony" Carney, daughter, Eula Mae Long, daughter Ann and husband Bob Conn, granddaughter, Debbie Long, and grandson Steve Carney and wife Donna.
Edna is survived by her son, David and wife Charlene Carney, daughter Dorothy Carney, daughter Rose Witte, and son Jimmy Carney; grandchildren, Lois and husband Ron Harp, Richard Carney, Kit and husband Perfecto Garcia and their boys, Tyler and Trey Garcia, Bo Carney and wife Jennifer, Candice and husband Joseph Elrod and their son Bodie, Cary Wayne Witte, Raymond Long, Georgia Amor" and son Waylon Long, Marie Logsdon and Jim Bob Logsdon, Melissa Black, Tammy, Pattie, Angie, and Bobby Conn. Edna had countless numbers of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Edna Carney will never be forgotten and will always be loved.
Funeral Services for Edna Carney will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Robert Carney officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
