Obituary for Edward Arthur Veilleux
Edward Arthur Veilleux, Jr. 65, resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed January 8, 2020 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma.
Ed was born in October 4th, 1954 Michigan to Edward Arthur Veilleux, Sr. and Jean Veilleux and spent a good portion of his life there, but often called Colorado Springs, CO his home.
Ed entered the US Air Force as a Reservist in 1978 and was assigned to
Peterson AFB in Colorado where he served his entire military career. During
his 26 years as a USAF Reservist there he served in the Air Defense Command,
Strategic Air Command, and Air Force Space Command. His responsibilities
included maintenance, inspections, and development of avionics systems and
sustainment supporting our National Defense network. Ed also served two years
in Active Duty status as an Avionics Superintendent providing oversight to
missile warning and space control systems comprised of a worldwide network
of ground-based sensors. He proudly served in operation Enduring Freedom and was deployed overseas. Ed retired from the United States Air Force in 2005 highly decorated
at the rank of SMSgt.
Ed then took his career and highly technical background into the private
sector. He began his own one-man company as a self-employed contract
programmer and application developer. His computer skills and ability to
analytically analyze anything electronic made him a success at this venture.
Ed left the private sector in 2014 and returned to his two true passions;
avionics and serving his country. That year he began a new career in Civil
Service with the 97th Maintenance Group at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma as an
Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic. Ed served many positions within the
organization including Avionics Back Shop, C-17/KC-135 Inspection Dock, and
C-17 Sortie Generation Flight. When the official announcement was made the
KC-46 would be coming to Altus Air Force Base , Ed was selected as an Avionics Lead
Technician in the initial cadre. He served on the forefront of initial
maintenance training, process development, and creating technical data for
the new aircraft. Upon the KC-46 arrival to Altus Air Force Base . Ed served as an
avionics system subject matter expert and key to the successful stand-up of
the new weapon system.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward Veilleux Sr. and mother Jean Veilleux

Funeral services for Ed will be 10:00 a.m Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma.
