Obituary for Edwin Norwood Wallace
Funeral services have been set for "Pete" Edwin Norwood Wallace, age 67, at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday morning in the Lowell Memorial Chapel with The Reverend Carl McCoy officiating. Burial will be in the Veteran's Section of the Altus City Cemetery with Military Honors under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Wallace was born October 18th, 1919 in Desert, TX to William and Willie (Norwood) Wallace. When he was four he moved with his family to Altus. He attended the Altus Public Schools and entered the Armed Forces during WWII serving as a Bomber Tailgunner with the Army Air Force.
After the war, he left the Armed Services as a Staff Sergeant and began a career which he kept for the next 40 years. He was a long time member of Local 344 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union and retired only when his health failed.
He died earl Sunday, March 22nd, 1987, morning in Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He is survived by: his wife, Doris Wallace of the home in Altus; one daughter, Barbara Wallace Head of Seaside Heights, NJ; one brother, Jimmy Ralph Wallace of Duncanville, TX; three sisters, Mattie Lee Lingle of Atlanta, GA, Treavous Wiley of Blair, OK and Monnie Mae Sisk of Altus, OK; two grandchildren, Angela Dawn Whorton and Lee Alexander Whorton of Atlanta, GA.
