Obituary for Eldon Stepp
Eldon Stepp, 65, of Altus, passed away Monday, December 22, 2008, at the Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City following a short illness.
Eldon was born December 18, 1943 in Keokuk, Iowa to William Edward and Millicent Irene (Inman) Stepp. He grew up in Warsaw, Illinois and graduated from Hamilton High School in Illinois. After graduation, Eldon enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1962. He was stationed at several military bases during his career, including Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, Kirkland AFB, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Reese AFB in Lubbock, Texas. He served in Viet Nam, Okinawa, Germany and was later transferred to Altus Air Force Base where he retired after twenty-six years of service. After his retirement, Eldon began working in Civil Service for the Altus Air Force Base as an A-Team Security Clearance Manager. He worked there for the past eighteen years and was well respected and loved by his co-workers.
Eldon loved watching OU and the Dallas Cowboys football, NASCAR racing, and was an excellent cook. He was a devoted family man and loved to phone his family and talk for hours. All who knew him will miss him.
Preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one brother, Charles Stepp, Eldon is survived by six children, Robert E. Stepp of Labson, South Carolina, Melissa Delgado and husband Robert of Altus, Alvin D. Stepp of Dallas, Texas, Ralph Stepp and Steven Stepp, both of Altus, and Alicia Starnes and husband Steve of Missouri, Irene Cantrell and husband Edward of Tennessee, Darlene Search and Shirley Tripp, both of Missouri; two brothers, Donald Stepp and Everett Stepp, also of Missouri; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and his best friend, Anita Hodges and husband Harold of Altus.
