Obituary for Elisha Weldon McKeaver
Elisha Weldon McKeaver(Mack) was born March 3, 1929 to Odell and Geneva Haskins McKeaver in Durham, N. C. He was 1 of 6 children. His siblings include: Hattie Mae Harville, Melvin McKeither, Dennis McKeither, Doris Ann Foreman and Pamela McKeither Moye.

Mack grew up in Durham N.C. where he attended Burton Elementary and graduated from Hillside High School in 1948 and soon after graduation he joined the USAF. During his time in the military he was an electrical engineer for the Air Force. He toured many different duty stations such as Okinawa, Japan; Thule, Greenland; Alaska, Germany, England and France before returning to his home base at Altus AFB, Oklahoma. Mack was one of the first African-Americans to enlist in the USAF. He was an electrical engineer and retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1969 and transferred over to civil service at Altus AFB for 26 years until he retired from the civil service in Nov 1995.
In previous years Mack wedded twice: 1st wife-Lessie Mae Goodlow McKeaver and 2nd wife-Elizabeth Jackson McKeaver in whom are both deceased. In Sept 2015 Mack married Fran Armstrong in Vernon, Tx.
Mack aka Uncle Doc aka Dr. Pepper is what friends and family called him throughout the years and he answered to all 3. He was so loved and respected by so many and was a man that was good to anyone who crossed his path. Mack was an active member in the community serving as a member of 50 plus years with St. James Masonic Lodge 229 and a faithful member of St. John's Baptist Church where he was the church's electrician. In his spare time Mack loved to go hang out with family and friends and play dominoes and spades and talk noise back and forth with one another, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, doing work in the yard, barbecuing, driving around town and shopping at his favorite store-The Commissary.

Mac departed this life on Monday, March 23, 2020 at Southwest Medical Center in Lawton, Oklahoma.He was preceded in death by both parents-Odell and Geneva Haskins McKeaver, 2 sons-Wayne McKeaver and Greg McKeaver, 1 sister-Hattie Harville and 1st wife-Lessie Goodlow McKeaver and 2nd wife- Elizabeth Jackson McKeaver.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife-Fran Armstrong of the home; 5 sons- Terry Wilson(Vida) of Ft. Washington, Md; Mack Bussey McKeaver of Murrietta, Ca; Steve McKeaver(Chanda) of Altus, Ok; David McKeaver(Cynthia) of Barstow, Ca; and Harvey Hill(Te'Shawn) of Gilbert, Az. 4 daughters- Jewel Morrow(Wayne) of Mechanicsburg, Pa; Andra McKeaver of Augusta, Ga; Tanisha Massie of Dallas, Tx; and Shawta McKeaver (Chehemu) of Altus, Ok and 3 step-daughters- Shaquita Underwood and LaFran Wilson of Lawton, Ok and Sammone Copeland of Duncanville, Tx. 41 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Viewing hours will be from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 2, 2020 and Friday, April 3, 2020 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus with 10 people or less at a time.

Private family services will be held at Lowell -Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
