Obituary for Ellis Boyd Houchin
Mr. Ellis Boyd Houchin, age 43, of 1129 N. Willard, died early Saturday morning at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services have been set for 2:00 P.M., Tuesday at Lowell Memorial Chapel with burial in Hollis Cemetery.
Born January 10th, 1933 in Duke, he was married at Dumas, Texas in 1959 to the former Billye Sue Hunt, who survives of the home. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Mr. Houchin moved to Altus in 1963 and was a news printer. He worked for a number of years with the Altus Times Democrat, the Blair Enterprise, The Hollis Times and the Lawton Constitution.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in that combat zone for over a year. He held the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include: one son, Gregory Wayne Houchin of the home; three brothers, Mr. "Mutt" Houchin of Altus, Mr. Buster Houchin of Wichita, KS and Mr. Edward Houchin of Amarillo, TX; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Hunter of Eldorado and Virginia Johnson of Sunray, TX.
