Obituary for Eph Ella Glasgow
Eph Ella (Cain) Glasgow passed away peacefully on June 4, at the age of 90. Jinx, as she was known by family and friends, was born on December 15, 1921, to Ephram Cain and Francis (Julius) Cain in the small town of Eldorado, Oklahoma. She attended Eldorado High School and was a star basketball player, graduating in 1941. An independent young woman, Jinx moved to Fort Worth, Texas, soon after high school and worked in an aircraft design plant supporting the World War II war effort.
Her attraction to aviation led her to Jacksonville, Florida, where she worked for a commercial airline and took flight lessons. It was in Jacksonville that she met and married a young aviator, Richard Glasgow. In 1947, her first son Michael was born, followed by her second son Gregory in 1949. As a young Navy wife, Jinx faced many challenges with raising two small children and a husband involved in the Korean Conflict.
Later in life, when the family was settled in the San Francisco Bay area, she began working in retail and eventually found success as an award winning Realtor. Upon retiring from her real estate career, she relocated to Carmel by the Sea, which became the community dearest to her heart. Her greatest joy was spending time with her many wonderful and valued friends.
Long term health care considerations eventually necessitated her move to nearby Santa Cruz to be close to her son Michael and family. Later her son Gregory returned to the area, and, for several years, Jinx had both of her boys nearby. Jinx passed away as a resident of Santa Cruz Health Care. Her family will forever be indebted to the amazing staff, who for many years cared for Jinx with love and dedication.
Jinx was preceded in death by her mother, Francis Cain Carter, father, Ephram Cain, step-father, Josh Carter, her sisters Beth Hutchinson and Catherine Fowler, and brothers Commie Cain and Don Carter.
In passing, she leaves behind her sons, Michael Glasgow and wife Amy and Gregory Cain Glasgow, her grandchildren, Jason Glasgow and wife Robyn, Becky Glasgow, and Molly Glasgow. She also leaves her great grandchildren, Memphis and Murphy Glasgow and beloved nieces and nephews.
"My greatest pride and legacy is my family!" Jinx Glasgow"
