Obituary for Esther Carolyn Eyre
Esther (Olson) Eyre passed away in her Blair, Oklahoma home on the morning 6 January, 2021. Her son Craig, and daughter-in-law Mayumi were at her side. Of course, her faithful dog (Missy) was there too.
Esther was raised in Turlock California with her sisters Edith, Bonnie, and Geraldine, and her brother Clifford. She developed a love for animals and a knack for hard work at an early age. She married Gary Eyre in 1964 and lived the life of a military spouse until his retirement from the Air Force in 1980.
Esther was blessed with three children, Nichole, Gary (Dean), and Craig. One of Esther's hardest trials was her daughter Nikki’s battle with leukemia that was lost in 1971. She continued to take care of her husband and sons until she was on her own in 2010 after Gary's passing.
In 2014, Esther moved to Illinois where she started a new life and quickly made new friends. She had good people in her life taking care of her as she started a battle with cancer in October of 2020. The disease was well advanced and Esther decided to let nature take its course.
Esther joined her family in Oklahoma for little more than a week before her passing. She proclaimed a love for Jesus Christ and a knowledge that He also loves her. She leaves a legacy of fond memories of her humor, wit, winning smile, steadfast endurance, and love for family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Gary Eyre; mother Elsie Olson (Carlson) and father Jerial Olson; daughter Nichole (Nikki) Eyre; brother Clifford Olson; and sisters Bonnie Burley and Geraldine (Geri) Lynn.
Esther is survived by her sons Gary Eyre of Roanoke, Virginia, Craig Eyre of Blair, Oklahoma; sister Edith Pollack of San Diego, California; granddaughter Shannon Eyre of Loveland, Ohio; as well as numerous cousins and those considered cousins.
Family service will be held in Colorado.
