Obituary for Eula Mae Barker
Eula Mae Baker Curry, age 77 of Altus, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2001 in Altus. she was born May 2, 1923 in Paris, Arkansas to Charles and Queen Ester (Bates) Ellingberg. Mrs. curry had lived in Altus since 1954 moving here from Paris, Arkansas.
On June 10, 1939 in Scranton, Arkansas Eula Mae and Albert Barker, Sr. were united in marriage. He preceded her in death August of 1967. On September 20, 1974 in Vernon Texas Eula Mae and Pennsylvania Curry Sr. were united in marriage. He preceded her in death April 21, 1995.
Mrs Curry owned and operated a licensed day care in her home for many years until she retired. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, spending time with her family and friends. Mrs Curry was a longtime member of the Holy Revival Center, she was the church mother for many years.
She is survived by ten children, Rose Lang of Altus, Oklahoma, Charles Barker and his wife Wanda of Altus, Oklahoma, Albert Barker, Jr. and his wife Althea of Oakland, California, Queen Ester Fuller and her husband Clarence of Oakland, California, Anna Marie Mays of Riverside, California, Ralph Barker and his wife Gwendolyn of Altus, Oklahoma, Jerrell Barker and his wife Beverly of Oakland, California, Richard Barker and his wife Birdel of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Linda Walker of Altus, Oklahoma, Glen Barker and his wife Cynthia of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nine step-children; LaWanda Shelton, Pennsylvania Jr., C.W. London, Arron, Walter, Tim, Kenneth Curry and David Richards. She is also survived by four sisters, Lula White of Spiro, Oklahoma, Sue bright of Sam Antonio, Texas, Clara Wade and her husband William of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Doris Petty of Oakland, California, two brother; Raymond Ellingberg of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Charles Ellingberg of Berkley, California; thirty-one grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Albert Barker, Sr. and P.C. Curry, Sr. infant daughter, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2001 at 11:00 am in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ancil Carruthers officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
