Obituary for Eva Marie Price
Eva Marie Price, 87, Altus, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Altus, Oklahoma.
Eva was born on May 21, 1938, in Vivian, Louisiana to Durwood A. and Sylvia V. (Glasgow) Gilbert. She grew up in the Vivian area and graduated from high school in Vivian. Eva enlisted in the United States Air Force and worked in communications. She met Bobby Joe Price on a blind date before marrying him on November 17, 1961, in Linden, Texas. They lived in Atlanta, Texas where they added two sons, Dale Eugene and Billy Joe. The family moved to Wichita, Kansas and later added a daughter, Cynthia Lynn. Family and Jesus meant everything to Eva. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She worked as a nursing aide, machinist, and school cook, but being a homemaker was her favorite. She loved to garden, cook, sew clothes, and crochet. As a homeroom mom, she often baked special treats and made crafts. She enjoyed traveling and going to hockey games. In December 2012, Eva moved to Altus to be closer to her grandchildren. She was active with her swimming group and the Silver Saints. She was a member of the Martha Road Baptist Church serving in AWANA Puggles and cooking for VBS meals. She also attended First Baptist Church in Altus. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Joe; her son, Dale; and two sisters, Marjorie Faye Bridges and Lucy Mae Gilbert.
Survivors include her son, Billy Joe Price; a daughter, Cynthia Gable and husband, Bob; two grandchildren, Audrey and Mason Gable; a brother, George Gilbert and wife, Robin; and many other family members and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, April 13, 2026, at the Resthaven Mortuary Chapel, Wichita, Kansas, with Pastor Norman Duncan officiating. Burial with Air Force Honors will follow in the Resthaven Gardens of Memory under the direction of the Resthaven Mortuary. Local arrangements are under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
