Obituary for Evelyn Anderson Snow

Evelyn Anderson Snow, age 98, of Mangum, passed away late Saturday evening, March 16, 2013, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center, in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Snow was born in Jackson County, Oklahoma on December 17, 1914, to Thomas and Ruby (Killian) Adams. Growing up in Jackson County, Evelyn graduated from Midway High School in 1932 and was the Valedictorian of her class. In 1932, she married Mylus "Monk" H. Anderson and they spent many wonderful years together until his death in May of 1971. Evelyn and Mylus lived and farmed north of Blair, until they moved to Mangum in 1941, where they owned and operated Anderson Grocery from 1950 to 1972. For the next ten years, she was the secretary for the Greer County Commissioners. In September of 1982, she married Lester Snow, who passed away in December 1996. Evelyn was a volunteer for Mangum City Hospital and the Bloodmobile; she worked at the election board for over ten years and was a teacher for the First Baptist Church of Mangum"s Beginner Children Department. In her free time, Evelyn loved helping at the church, whether it was preparing meals or working at the front office during services, and spending time with her wonderful friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two brothers; Marvin Adams and Ellis Adams, and two sisters; Ola Sorrells and Mabel Bell. Evelyn is survived by two sons; Mylus "Gene" Anderson and wife Janet of Stillwater and Carrol Reid Anderson and wife Mary of Elk City; six grandchildren, Stephanie Millar and husband Mike, Susan Anderson, Fred (Jann) Penn and husband Mike, Kristin Anderson, Cary Anderson and Amanda Lubbers; eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Evelyn Anderson Snow will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Mangum with interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Mangum, who will use the donations to fund the Baptist Children"s Home.
