Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus and was a faithful church attendant until ill health prevented her participation. She very faithfully read her Bible daily and worshipped with her fellow church members through Sunday services on television. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, crocheting and baking and she was famous for piecing nineteen and quilting quite a few of the big Dahlia quilts. After moving to Altus at the age of 72, she joined the Quilters Guild and took some trips on the church bus going to Glorieta, New Mexico and Niagara Falls.
