Obituary for Everett Eugene Shaw

Everett Eugene Shaw, a longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away December 9, 2023, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus, Oklahoma at the age of fifty-two.

On May 6, 1971, in Frederick, Oklahoma, Eugene Perry and Havana Shaw celebrated the birth of their son, Everett Eugene Shaw. Everett was raised and educated in Frederick, Oklahoma, and was a proud Bomber. He graduated from high school in 1989. Following high school Everett enlisted in the United States Army. After being discharged from the Army Everett followed his passion and attended art school in New York City. He loved drawing, painting, and all forms of artistic expression. Everett left school to help to care for his, grandmother, Arlene Perry. Everett and his grandmother had a very close relationship and an endless bond. Arlene helped Everett become the incredible man we all knew. Upon returning home, Everett began his career in corrections. He worked for Granite Reformatory for over twenty years before transferring to Northfork Correctional Facility in Sayer for the last seven years of his career. He retired as a lieutenant. After being together for over twenty years, Everett and Alenda Carita Dorsey were united in holy matrimony On June 25, 2022, in Altus, Oklahoma. In his free time, Everett enjoyed barbecuing on the grill and was always considered “the pit master”, making some of the best ribs, hot dogs, and hamburgers to be found. He also had a deep love for comic books and enjoyed the beautiful artwork they possessed and even created a few himself, such as the “timekeepers.” He also loved watching Star Trek, and Star Wars. Everett was a big kid, and this was never more evident when he was around his grandkids, they were the light of his life, and he enjoyed every second with them. Everett leaves a legacy of devotion to his family, and his friends, and a legacy of service built on a lifetime of service to the state of Oklahoma and his country.

Everett is preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Arlene Perry.

Left to carry on the legacy of Everett is his loving wife, Alenda Dorsey Shaw; father, Eugene Perry; mother, Havana Shaw, five sons, Kenderick Shaw, Jarmal Marquette Dorsey, and wife Kamryn, Shawn Dorsey, Rapheal Bagley, Teriance Bagley, four siblings, Daniel Shaw, Rashoda Wright, Arianne Griffis, Ebony Varner, four grandchildren, Nylah Bagley, Kenlee Johnson, Kehlani Dorsey, Kaydence Dorsey, and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
