FLORA BELL LEWIS
Flora Bell Lewis. 92, passed away Sunday, March 19, 1995, in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Bell was born July 18, 1902 in Palastine, Texas to Jim and Samantha Flannagin.
She married Arthur Lewis in 1932 and he preceded her in death.
Bell worked as a cook in Shamrock, Texas for many years. She was well loved and appreciated by several families where she served as a live-in nanny.
She moved to Altus in 1990. She was a member of the Greater Mt. Zion Church in Wellington, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; one daughter, Bertha Lee Farrow; one son; several of her sisters and brothers; as well as one grandson.
Flora Bell Lewis is survived by six children, Bernice Lewis and Ethel Armstrong, both of Altus, Lawrence Elem of Waxahachie, Texas, Charles Hayes and Nathaniel Lewis, both of Dallas, Texas and Vera Lenard of Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister, Willie B Harris of Arlington, Texas; 19 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
Services have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 24, 1995 at Lowell Tims Chapel with Rev. Leroy Walker, Pastor of the Full Gospel Church in Wellington, Texas officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
