Obituary for Floyd Gus Fisher
Floyd G. Fisher Sr. was born July 21, 1918 in Florence, Texas to George and Idabel (Sanders) Fisher. He passed away Thursday, April 10, 2003 in Altus, Oklahoma. Floyd had lived in Mineral Wells, Texas for many years before moving to Altus in 1958. He came from a family of fifteen brothers and sisters. Me married his wife Angie Marie and she preceded him in death in 1966.

Floyd served in the United States Army during World War II. He served in Central Burma and his medals included The American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacilic Campaign medal with two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, World War II Victory Medal.

Floyd was a member of St. John's Baptist Church in Altus. He leaves a long legacy of family and friends that he cherished very much.

He is survived by three sons; Lazel fisher of FT. Worth, Texas Floyd fisher Jr. of Altus, Oklahoma, Alfred Fisher of Georgetown, Texas; five daughters, Alice M. Fisher of Altus, Oklahoma, Bernice DeJean of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Martha Shelly of Atlanta, Georgia, Sylvia R. Fisher of Killeen, Texas and Rachel Fisher Chandler of Altus, Oklahoma. He is also survived by two brothers, Howard Fisher of Georgetown, Texas, Lindbergh Fisher of Burnet, Texas; two sisters, Lueella Barton of Temple, Texas and Lillie Nance of Hart, Texas. Floyd is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Angie Marie and two sons, Lloyd R, Fisher and Charles Fisher Ferris.

Funeral services for Floyd G. Fisher are scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2003 at 2:00 pm in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Vernon Traylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the directions of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
