Obituary for Frances Reagan
Frances Regan, long time resident of Altus, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 1997, in the Austin, Texas, after a brief illness. She was 87. Mrs. Regan was born November 15, 1910, in Arkansas City, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Petree, a brother, Martin Petree, and her husband, Charles A. Reagan.
Mr. Reagan moved to Altus in 1919. She graduated from Altus High School in 1928 and received a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma. She was an elementary school teacher in the Altus public school system for several years and also worked in the Jackson County Clerk's office. She married Charles A. Reagan on April 7, 1945, at her parents' home. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Amarillo, Texas, but returned to Altus in 1952. Following her husband's death in 1967, Mrs. Reagan took over his farming operation in Jackson County and continued raising their two children. She moved to Austin, Texas in 1995.
Mrs. Reagan was a member of the First Christian Church in Altus. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Anna Lee Chapter. She enjoyed many hobbies and pastimes throughout her life, including reading, painting, china painting, embroidery, and quilt applique. Mrs. Reagan was devoted to her family and they loved her dearly.
She is survived by two daughters, Sally Reagan and Mary Reagan Dick, of Austin, Texas, and a son-in-law, Michael Dick, also of Austin.
Funeral services is scheduled for Friday, December 5, 1997 at 2:00pm at the First Christian Church in Altus with Mark Morey officiating. Burial will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.,
