Obituary for Francisca Vallejo Lopez
Francisca Vallejo Lopez, age 81, of Altus/Granite died at the Plantation Village Nursing Home Saturday morning. A Vigil Service is scheduled for Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. with the funeral mass said Tuesday at noon, June 22nd, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church officiated by Father Joseph Arledge. Burial will follow in the Granite Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Francisca was born June 16, 1923 at Iago, Texas and was the daughter of Vincente and Maria Delores Vallejo. On September 30, 1923 she was baptized San Juana Francisca Vallejo into the Roman Catholic Church. She married Christino Martin Lopez on October 31, 1942 at Burr in Wharton County, Texas. They moved to Altus from Corpus Christi, Texas in the early 50's where they farmed. Later they moved to Granite in the 60's. Christino died April 6, 1972.
Francisca was a homemaker but found time to serve as a Teachers Assistant at the Granite Schools. She was also a fundraiser for Community Action in both Oklahoma and Illinois. She volunteered her time at the Community Center in Granite to serve breakfast to all the children of the community before attending school every morning. She also gave freely of her time to actively support many other organizations. Francisca loved to sing, work in the garden and was dedicated to her family.
Her husband, Christino Lopez preceded her in death as well as her parents, Vincente and Maria Delores Vallejo; one son, Richard Lopez; one daughter, Martha Garcia; two grandsons, Danny and Juan Hernandez.
Survivors include two sons, Chris Lopez and his wife Mary of Bettendorf, Iowa and Raymond Lopez and his wife Sue of Milan, Illinois. Six daughters, Mary De La Rosa and her husband Joe of Canute, Oklahoma; Frances Ornelas and her husband Victor of Duke, Oklahoma; Josie Esparza of Blair, Oklahoma; RoseMary Rohr and her husband Tom of Plymouth, Indiana; Patricia Cummings and her husband Robert of Elmendorf AFB, Alaska; Maria Nevejas and her husband Abel of Canute, Oklahoma; one brother, Pete Vallejo and his wife Pat of Houston, Texas. Three sisters, Anita Rivera and her husband Valentine of Houston, Texas, Maria Salgado of Houston, Texas and Sandy Armendariz of Wharton, Texas. Also surviving are thirty-two grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
