Obituary for Fred Graumann
Fred George “Freddie” Graumann, Jr. was born August 12, 1942 to Fred G.Graumann, Sr. & Parolee (Zills) Graumann. Freddie grew up and attended school in Lone Wolf until his Senior year in high school. Then his family moved to the Blair area and he completed his last semester at Martha where he graduated in 1960. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lone Wolf where he was baptized as an infant, confirmed as a teenager, and married the love of his life Beverly Ann Bourland on Nov. 23, 1961. Together they raised two children, a daughter Dana and a son Alan.
Freddie was a police officer and detective for the City of Altus before becoming their Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. In 1980 Freddie hung up his wrenches to take over his Dad’s farming operation west of Blair. Not long after that, he opened his own mechanic shop “Graumann Auto” in addition to his farming duties. In 1996 Freddie returned to the City of Altus as Fleet Maintenance Supervisor until his health forced him to retire in 2005. During his years at Central, Garage Freddie was named City of Altus “Department Head of the Year” 3 times.
Freddie loved his family, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, but most of all he treasured his time with his grandkids. He could catch fish when nobody else could. He was a very talented mechanic and a meticulous farmer. His farms looked like a garden all the time. He could grow and bale up the prettiest, greenest alfalfa hay in the country. People would drive from miles around to buy his alfalfa hay. He was also very successful at producing alternative crops such as bluestem grass, indiangrass and sideoats grama. He served as a board member for the Blair Farmers Coop.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Fred & Parolee Graumann, Beverly’s parents Roy & Gwen Bourland, son Alan Graumann, brother Larry Graumann, nephew Michael Armstrong, sister-in-law Glenna Graumann, and two brothers-in-law David & Jacky Bourland.
Freddie is survived by his wife Beverly of the home, one daughter Dana Butchee & husband John Dee, daughter-in-law Diane, brother Johnny Graumann, sister Susan Armstrong & husband Dennis all of Blair, sister-in-law Donna Boone & husband Nicky of Hollis, brother-in-law Jim Bourland & wife Leigh of OKC. Four grandsons, Dillon Butchee & wife Katy, Darren Butchee & wife Fancy all of Blair, Braden Graumann & Blaine Graumann both of Yukon. Four Great Grandchildren, Boe Butchee, Josy Butchee, Jackson Butchee & Sutton Graumann. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lutheran Cemetery at Granite or St. John’s Lutheran Church of Lone Wolf.
Funeral service will be at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lone Wolf, OK on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor B.J. Armstrong officiating. Burial will be at the Lutheran Cemetery, Granite, OK. Visitation will be at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 9 between 5 and 7 PM.
