Obituary for G. W. Little
G. W. "Bill" Little passed away Sunday, July 23rd, 2000 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma, at the age of 82.
Bill was born July 21st, 1918, in McKinney, Texas, to George William and Lucy Cornelia (Newcomb) Little. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1947. He served with the Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 184th Infantry Regiment. Bill was wounded in action during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Bill married Wynola Hughes July 21, 1945, in Humphrey, Oklahoma. He farmed for many years in the Jackson County area before retiring. He was a very active member of the Southside Baptist Church where he served as one of the first deacons of the church and also enjoyed serving as song leader of the worship services.
Bill is survived by his wife, Wynola, of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; three children, Billy Eugene Little and wife Jamie of Yukon, OK, Donna June McLachlan and husband Douglas of Ortonville, Michigan, and Canellia Ann Pollock and husband Stephen of Odessa, TX; six grandchildren, Jason Little, Matthew Little, David McLachan, Kim McLachan, Amber Dawn Carroway, and Jason Pollock; and two great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucy Little and one sister, Edna Keene.
