Garnett Renn Phelps age 73 of Wichita Falls, Texas died December 14, 1965 in Wichita Falls. He was born March 2, 1892 in Quanah, Texas to Chancey C. and Nettie (Renn) Phelps. Garnett was the first child to enroll in the Duke Public School. He married Ruth White August 2, 1922 in Duke, Oklahoma. He was a 32 degree Mason, member of the American Legion and Veteran of World War I.
Funeral services for Garnett Renn Phelps are scheduled for December 16, 1965 at 2:00pm in the Methodist Church at Duke, Oklahoma officiated by Rev. John McLean and Rev. Elbert Shumaker. Burial will follow in the Duke Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
Garnett Renn Phelps is survived by his wife Ruth of the home in Wichita Falls, Texas; one son Ray Phelps, Anadarko, Oklahoma; one daughter Mrs. Carlos Putmore, Wichita Falls, Texas; five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Brown, Manson, Washington, Mrs. Nettie Lou Eldridge, Compton, California.
