George W. Ellis, age 83, died Sunday, December 25th, 1994 in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 21, 1911 in Naples, Texas to William T. and Minnie Ola (Crossland) Ellis. Mr. Ellis married Maggie Ledbetter-Kirby on March 5, 1946 in Vernon, TX. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ellis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus and was retired from farming.
George was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister, Crystelle Ellis; one brother, Guy Ellis.
He is survived by Maggie, his wife of 48 years; a son and daughter-in-law, William H. and Janette Kirby of Altus; one brother, Loyd Ellis of Ruidosa, NM; two sisters, Willie Lue Jeffreys of Lubbock, TX and Loretta Snodgrass of Idalou, TX; three grandsons, William H. Kirby II of Kingsbay Naval Station, GA, George D. and Courtney Kirby of Lubbock, TX and Kelly S. Kirby of Altus; one great-granddaughter, Pyper Knicole Kirby of Lubbock and a host of nieces and nephews.
