Georgia Maye Tatyrek, age 81, of Duncan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday night, March 27, 2011. Georgia was born on March 16, 1930, in Willow, Oklahoma to William and Antonia (Zett) Tatyrek.
After attending Lake Creek School and graduating as salutatorian of the 1948 Ocina High School Class, she married Edward Tatyrek on February 5, 1951, in Gulfport, Mississippi to form a loving bond that lasted sixty years. She was a devoted mother to two boys, Gary and Michael and one daughter, Mary Ellen.
Preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carrie Dumas, she is survived by her husband, Edward Tatyrek of Duncan, Oklahoma; two sons, Gary Tatyrek and wife Luna of Vernon, Texas and Michael Tatyrek and wife Cheryl of Wichita, Kansas; one daughter, Mary Ellen Willison of Paducah, Texas; five grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew Carlie, Allie and Connor along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation and thanks to all of the doctors, the 2nd and 4th floor nursing staff at Duncan Regional Hospital who served us so kindly and to all of our family and friends for all of their love and support.
Georgia"s wishes were that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Baptist Children"s Home.
Funeral services for Georgia Tatyrek are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the Willow First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Tatyrek officiating. Interment will follow at the Willow Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, from 6 until 7 p.m.
