Obituary for Gladys Chastain
Former Blair resident, Gladys Mae Chastain, age 77, of Tuscon, Arizona, was born July 7th, 1919, in Mangum, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Elmer and Effie (Gardner) Roberts. She was a Jackson County resident for many years, moving to Tucson several years ago to be close to her daughter.
Mrs. Chastain passed away Wednesday evening, October 9th, 1996, in the Tucson Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 14, 1996, in the First Baptist Church in Blair, OK with Garry Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
On December 24, 1938, she and Herman Chastain were united in marriage at Mangum, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blair, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Herman Chastain, 7-11-1990.
Survivors include: a son, Butch Chastain and his wife Patsy of Sayre, OK; two daughters, Pat Beakey and husband Joe of Tucson, AZ and Charlene Grau of Tucumcari, NM; one brother, Cecil Roberts of California; three sisters, Edna Earl Smith of Paso Robles, CA, Erma Dean Jackson of Soledad, CA and Marie Hammonds of Arkansas; six grandchildren, Jan and Kert Chastain both of Sayre, OK, Casey Cavot of Weatherford, OK, Bryon Wright of Tucson, AZ, Kellie Beakey of San Francisco, CA and Carole Heistand of Flippen, AR; and four great-grandchildren.
