Glenda Gail Vann, age 62, of Altus, passed away late Tuesday evening, August 2, 2016, at her residence, in Altus.
Gail was born on July 20, 1954, in Checotah, Oklahoma to Johnny Rhue and Hazel Marie (Baldwin) Oakley. Due to her dad"s job with Civil Service, the family lived in several locations before arriving in Altus, in 1966. Beginning the seventh grade at Southeast Junior High, Gail graduated from Altus High School, in 1972. Following her senior year, she married Danny Gardner and to that union was born one son, Jeremy Jonathan Gardner. Spending a short time in Sumter, South Carolina, they moved back to Altus in 1974. In 1983, she married Blayne Vann and they lived in St. Louis and Gulf Shores, Alabama, prior to Blayne"s death, in 1993. After Blayne"s death, Gail returned to Altus where she lived until her passing. A homemaker most of her life, Gail was very involved in her church where she enjoyed studying the Bible and spending time with her Bible Study Group. Gail loved her family and cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Blayne, she is survived by her son, Jeremy Gardner and wife Elizabeth Dominguez of Keller, Texas; two grandchildren, Victoria Stranczek and Joseph Stranczek of Keller, Texas; two sisters, Suzy Brock and husband Tony of Moultrie, Georgia and Brenda Beauchamp of Altus; one brother, Bob Oakley and wife Liz of Edmond along with many other relatives and friends.
