Gordon "Terry" Crockett, age 74 of Lawton, passed away Saturday evening, October 22, 2016 at the McMahon-Tomlinson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lawton.
Gordon Terrell ("Terry") Crockett was born on July 28 1942 in Bedford, Indiana to Tom and Mary Crockett. Terry was the first of five children in this union; Terry, Ralph, Karen, David and Lynn. Terry and his parents moved to Oklahoma to continue the family of farming and raising cattle. Terry attended Gould schools, Graduating in 1960 and then attended Southwestern for a short time. Terry was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard; then he moved away to Fort Worth Texas where he worked for General Dynamics.
Terry married Wanda Cunningham on 05/15/1970 in Wellington Texas. They made their home in Hollis and raised four children. Terry found himself doing what he truly loved to do and that was raising cattle. Later on he started his own Custom Harvesting business that took him from the high plains of Muleshoe Texas to the Northern plains where he harvested wheat and barley. Terry and Wanda spent a few years living in Las Vegas before they resettled in Lawton OK where Terry managed a commissary shift at Fort Sill for a period prior to becoming ill.
Terry loved to cook, hunt and fish and play quarter slots. He loved to cook out and invite the whole gang over to eat. You could always count on Terry when your kid was sick or in the Hospital. Terry had a fun way of getting along and making friends with everyone he met. Terry was fun loving and had many friends. Terry will be sorely missed.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents. Tom and Mary Crockett. By his mother-in-law and Father-in-law Posey and Fannie Cox; his brother, Ralph Crockett and Jason Crockett his nephew.
Terry is survived by his wife Wanda of the home; his four children and their spouses. Kenny and Sue Green of Abilene TX; Joel and Tammy Strickland of Mustang OK; Larry and Julie Cunningham of Cache OK; Brad and Kandi Cunningham of Altus OK; Grandchildren, Kenny Green, Shelley Green, TJ Strickland, Scott Strickland, Jenna Dodson, Reece Cunningham, Aaron Cunningham, Braden Cunningham, Connor Cunningham and Kanyon Cunningham and many Great Grandchildren. Brothers and their spouses; David and Susie Crockett of Douglas GA and Lynn and Ann Crockett of Houston TX and one sister Karen Crockett Fennerty and Don of Springdale AR; A handful of cousins and many nephews and nieces.
Graveside Inurnment services will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis, Oklahoma with Kevin Crockett officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
