Obituary for Gureld Odell Leister
Gureld Odell Leister, age 41 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Gureld was born on April 13, 1980 in Altus, Oklahoma to Clarence Gene Leister and Laura Gayle (Carroll) Leister. He grew up in Altus, graduated high school there and went on to attend Western Oklahoma State College.
Gureld served in the 10th Mountain Division of the United States Army at Ft. Drum, New York. While enlisted, Gureld received several honors, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism medal. He became a disabled veteran after honorably discharging from the military.
Having served his country well, Gureld entered into the civilian workforce finding work as a maintenance technician with Main Realty and Pear Tree Apartments. He also owned and operated his own business. The Cha-Ching Ring Company was born out of Gureld's passion for crafting amazing specialty coin rings that were unique to each customer.
Outside of work, Gureld enjoyed designing custom logos that could be applied to t-shirts, hats and glassware. He also liked tinkering around with things and working on heating and cooling units.
On a deeper level, Gureld was of the Christian faith and believed in the awesome power of prayer. He was a very kind, loving man and an avid OU football fan! His smile and generosity will be missed by many who knew him.
Gureld leaves to honor his everlasting memory, his parents: Clarence and Laura Leister; his sister, Mary Amber Leister of Olney, TX; his life partner, Rachel Shonk of Altus, OK; as well as a host of other relatives, colleagues, friends, and his most-beloved pet, Delilah the dog.
