Gwendolyn Warren, age 92, of Altus, passed away late Tuesday evening, January 27, 2015, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mrs. Warren was born in Lone Oak, Texas on August 12, 1922, to Weyman and Mary (Plunkett) Head. After graduating from Lone Oak High School, she attended East Texas State Teacher"s College, in Commerce, Texas. While in Greenville, she met the love of her life, Edgar Lee "Bob" Warren, and they were married on May 22, 1945, and spent the next sixty-nine wonderful years together before her death. When they married, Bob was in the United States Air Force. They spent time at several locations with Bob"s service time. Gwen substitute taught for several years before joining the Oklahoma Department of Human Services in the mid 1960"s. She retired as a supervisor, in the Eldercare area after nineteen years. A longtime member of the First Baptist Church, of Altus, Gwen enjoyed playing Bingo and bowling, but most of all she loved being with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Weyman Head, Jr. and one granddaughter Carey Chamberland, she is survived by her husband, Bob, of the home; two children, Michael Wayne Warren and wife Linda of Marble Falls, Texas and Sherry Cossey and husband Bill of Marble Falls, Texas; four grandchildren, Shannon Jordan and husband Ron of Toledo, Ohio, Shane Warren of Dallas, Kyle Cossey and wife Roxeanne of Canyon Lake, Texas and Kinsey Cossey of Marble Falls, Texas; three great grandchildren, Ethan Molina, Sky Lynn Cossey and Rayden William Cossey; four sisters, Roxey Vee Sweat of Hunt, Texas, Weyma Jo Blackshear and husband J.B. of Greenville, Texas, Maribeth Bryant of Greenville, Texas and Elizabeth Treadway and husband Jerald of Greenville, Texas along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Gwen Warren will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
