Funeral services for Harley Groves, 89, life long resident of Altus who died Friday November 17th, 1995 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 21, 1995 at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery. Rev. Boyd Whitehead will officiate.
Mr. Groves was born October 17, 1906 in Altus to Goldman "Lon" and Clara Mike Groves. He attended Altus Public Schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr Groves worked for Moores Wholesale as a stock clerk, and had also worked for Temple Bailey Farm Supply for several years. Harley married Aileen Stone on December 15, 1928 in Altus.
Mr. Groves is preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant Daughters, 1 grandson, David Lee Groves Jr. and 3 Brothers, Jim, Grady and Boyd Groves. He is survived His Wife, Aileen Groves of the home in Altus, Oklahoma and by seven children: David Lee Groves of Houston, Texas, Robert E. "Bob" Groves of Fletcher, Oklahoma, Donnie F. Groves of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Lonnie F. Groves of Purcell, Oklahoma, Nancy Thomas of Altus, Oklahoma, Polly K. Jones of San Antonio, TX and Johnnie Groves of Altus, Oklahoma. Three Sisters, Edith Overfield of Altus, Oklahoma, Faye Wentworth of Fullerton, California and Iva Tigert of Ohio. Also 13 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lowell Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The Family will receive Friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
