Obituary for Harvey Earl Thomason
Harvey Earl Thomason, 68, of Duke, Oklahoma passed away at his home on Saturday, March 30th, 2013. Born to Ross & Alma (Stout) Thomason, he lived most of his life in Jackson County.
Harvey was a life-long farmer, rancher, and cattle buyer. He was proud to farm the land homesteaded in 1889 by his great grandfather during the Oklahoma Land Run. Harvey served his community as a volunteer fireman and as City Clerk of Duke, Oklahoma for years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Duke, Oklahoma where he served on several committees.
Harvey lived life with a great sense of humor and loved to play and be the recipient of practical jokes and tell funny stories. He was always willing to help others and he was especially happy to help young people with their 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) projects. Harvey loved to travel and he made new friends everywhere he went because he had a way of making others feel special.
Harvey was extremely loving and proud of his daughter, Kayla (Thomason) Brooks and her husband, Roger, stepson Chris Burrows and wife Tracey, stepdaughter Denice Finch and husband, David. He is survived by his best friend and wife of sixteen years, Edna Thomason. Additionally, Harvey was passionate about his nine grandchildren: Zachary, Jordan, Bethany, and Daniel Brooks, Elizabeth McCormick and husband Kevin, Todd Burrows and wife Sarah, Lindsay Martin and husband Tad, Josh and Allie Finch and three great grandchildren: Willow McCormick, Stetson Burrows and Dexton Martin.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 6:30-7:30 PM at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, 1100 E. Tamarack Road, Altus, Oklahoma.
