Obituary for Helen Filip
Helen Filip, age 80 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, March 2, 1999 in Altus, Oklahoma. She was born December 16, 1918 at Paw Paw, Michigan to the late John and Ann Szpiech. On November 17, 1945 Helen and Walter were united in marriage in the town of Flint, Michigan. He preceded her in death April 17, 1991.
In September of 1984 Helen and Walter moved to Altus, Oklahoma from Flint , Michigan, to be near their daughter and family. Helen's family was important to her, and she was happiest when she was taking care of them. Friends and friendships were also an integral part of Helen's life. Helen was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Mass of Resurection will be Saturday, March 6, 1999 at 9:30am at prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joseph Jacobi officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Survivors include two children, Sue Wilcher and husband Mark of Altus, Oklahoma, Mike Filip and Julie of Saratoga, California, one brother, Edward Szpiech of Flint, Michigan, two sisters, Julia Fuss and husband Iggy of Las Vegas, Nevada, Regina Skindzier and husband Stanley of Flint, Michigan; four grandchildren, Britany K. Wilcher, Kevin M. Wilcher, Shawn M. Filip, Christopher R. Filip.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ann Szpiech, husband, Walter Filip, sisters, Ester, Sophie Kielbasa, Stella Kielbasa, Louise Szpiech, brothers, William Szpiech and Wardie Szpiech.
Prayer service will be Friday evening, February 5, 1999 at 8:00pm at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Memorials may be sent to Jackson County Memorial Hospital or Prince of Peace Scholarship Fund.
