Obituary for Helen Louise Bonds
Helen Louise Tidwell Bonds, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, November 15, at Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon at the age of 88.
Helen was born January 25, 1924, in Marietta, Oklahoma. At the age of five, she moved with her parents to Altus, Oklahoma. She married in 1942. She is the mother of four wonderful children: Delores and Charles Smith of Teague, Texas; Virginia Baker of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Butch Bonds of Altus, Oklahoma, and Gary and Cindy Bonds of Yukon, Oklahoma. She has nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Altus, where she served as a nursery worker. She served fourteen years at the Altus House Nursing Home as a caretaker, and twenty-three years at Kellwoods. She also volunteered at Jackson County Memorial Hospital where she gave comfort to patients.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Margaret and John Tidwell; one granddaughter; four brothers, William Tidwell, Jack Tidwell, Pete Tidwell, and Oscar Tidwell; and one sister, Mary Hincle.
Funeral Services for Helen Bonds will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the Altus Centennial Memorial Center in the Altus City Cemetery with Reverend Norman Behymer officiating. Interment will follow at Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
