WILSON

Henry Wilson, age 88, a lifelong resident of Greer County, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at Mangum City Hospital.

Henry was born in Reed, Oklahoma on May 21, 1929 to his parents John T. and Grace Irene (Powell) Wilson. On January 14, 1969, he married Lillian “Lil” Gambill in Childress, Texas and they have enjoyed over 48 years of marriage. Henry worked as a cattle buyer for many years and his passion was working his land in Greer County and surrounding areas as a Farmer and Rancher. He always liked having a large garden and having family picnics while working the ranch with family. Henry was a very kind, considerate and loving husband and daddy and was a “Papa” to many. We consider him the last “John Wayne”.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Jerry Don Wilson; two sisters, Addie Mae Allen and Ruth Bex; Henry is survived by his wife Lil Wilson of the home; three children, Shelly Wilson-Blaske and Kevin of Mangum; René Wilson and Mark of Oklahoma City; and Vickie VanZandt and Calvin of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; two brothers, J.T. Wilson and wife Mary of Oklahoma City; and Barry Wilson and Wife Candy of the Tulsa area; one sister, Johnnie Faye of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, Brazile, Dustin, Derrick, Dacie, Paula, Kristan, and Kelly; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Mangum First Baptist Church with Pastor Jan Ivan Oden and Pastor Stephen Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Mangum under the direction of Greer Funeral Home, Mangum, Oklahoma.
