Obituary for Horace Glynn Johnson Jr.
Horace Johnson, Jr. age 62, passed away November 26, 2005 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 14, 1943, in Carthage, Mississippi, to Horace Glynn Johnson, Sr. and Emma Chamblee.
Horace joined the United States Air Force June 7, 1962, where he was a Flight Engineer Technician. During his military service, he was awarded many medals, including Air Medal with one silver oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, NCO Professional Military education Ribbon with one Bronze oak leaf cluster, Combat Readiness Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with three bronze oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietman Service Medal with two bronze stars, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation with two bronze oak leaf clusters, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with plam.
Republic of Vietnam Medal, and Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one silver oak leaf cluster. He was honorably discharged June 30, 1982.
He obtained his private pilot license and loved to fly. Horace was a loving father, friend, and uncle. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
Horace is survived by his daughter, Patricia Johnson of Norman, Oklahoma; two nieces, Tammy Somers and Shirley Rosenthal, both of California; two great-nephews and one great-niece.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lawrence Johnson; and one sister, Martha Sloan.
