Obituary for Howard Eugene Bonds
Howard Eugene Bonds , age 79, passed away Monday, May 20th, 1996 at his home following a lengthy illness. Howard was born April 23, 1917 in Duke, OK. He was the son of Clinton Clay and Viola Utoka (Mitchell) Bonds. On September 14, 1937, Howard and Zena Leota Henderson were united in marriage at Hollis, OK. He lived his entire life in Jackson County. Mr. Bonds was an employee of the City of Altus until his retirement in July of 1986. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Duke; a member of the American Legion and the Woodmen of the World.

Howard loved the outdoors and took great pleasure in camping and fishing. He was always trying to catch the "Big Crappie". But, Howard's greatest pleasure was his family, which he deeply loved with all his being. In return, he was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.

Mr. Bonds was preceded in death by his father, Clinton C. Bonds in January of 1971; and by one son, Doug Bonds on June 5, 1990.

He is survived by his wife Leota of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jerry Miller of Lake Kiowa, TX; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Janie Bonds of Elk City, OK; his mother, Viola Utoka Bonds of Altus; two brothers, Felix Bonds of San Diego, CA and Hubert Bonds of Altus; one sister, Pauline Eccles of Heber Springs, AR; four grandchildren, Clift Miller of Altus, Dawn Rinehart of Marina, CA, Steve Bonds of Elk City, OK and Neil Bonds of Duke, OK; and one great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Bonds of Elk City, OK.
