Funeral services for Irene "Fowler" Lankford, 88, of Altus who died Tuesday, July 27 in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital are scheduled for 9:00am Friday July 30 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Restlawn Cemetery with Rev. Ken Pate officiating.
Mrs. Lankford was born August 14, 1904 in Gans Indian Territory, Oklahoma to Floyd and Mary Fowler. Mrs. Lankford came to old Greer County on statehood day, 1907. Mrs. Lankford was a graduate of Martha High School. Mrs. Lankford married Frank G. Lankford November 23, 1924. He preceded her in death in April of 1976.
Mrs. Lankford was a housewife and member of the Blair Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Blair Methodist Church or the Altus First Methodist Church elevator fund. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include children, Phillip Lankford and Mary of Altus, Oklahoma; De Erma Tippie and J.W. of Lawrence, Kansas; Jo Reta Nipp and Gerald of Amarillo, Texas; Roland Lankford and Nelda of Blair, Oklahoma; sisters, Wilcie Newton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Jessie Scott, of Ft. Worth, Texas; Eula Nease of Las Cruses, New Mexico; Evelyn Stewart of Arkansas City, Kansas; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, husband, ten brothers and sisters; Ben Fowler, Dora Hively, Ewell Fowler, Jack Fowler, Don Fowler, Ashley Fowler, Pauline Penny, Hugh Fowler, May Powers, anna Sisk.
