Obituary for Irvin M. Carpenter
Irvin m. Carpenter was born December 29, 1906 in Erie, Kansas. He was the son of the late William H. and Mary (Perry) Carpenter. He died February 1. 2003 in Altus, Oklahoma. He married Raby Gray, August 28, 1929 in McAlister, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death in 1989.
He taught welding and machine shop at Shawnee Tech during World War II. He worked at Geolograph Company in Oklahoma City over 30 years, where he designed and developed a geolograph that is used on all drilling rigs. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cushing, Oklahoma for over 75 years. He has been a resident of Altus and Jackson County since 1999.
Survivors include 2 children; Jenene Mulford and Jay of Altus, Oklahoma; David Carpenter and Mildred of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren Michael Haggard and Sandra of Winslow, Ariz. Donna Butcher and Ed of Kentucky; 4 great-grandchildren Justin Jordan, Alexandria, and Lisa Butcher. Irvin M. Carpenter was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 5 brothers, and 1 sister and by 1 son, John Carpenter.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 pm Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003 at the Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma, with Michael Haggard officiating.
