Obituary for J. D. Hamilton
J. D. Hamilton, age 93, of Martha, Oklahoma, passed away December 20, 2002 at the Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus, Oklahoma. Services are set for 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 23, 2002 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ross Evans will officiate. Interment will follow at the Martha Cemetery. The family will receive guests on Sunday evening from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

J. D. was born June 23, 1909 to parents Robert Lee Hamilton and Augusta Mae Sampler Hamilton in Jackson County, Oklahoma. He grew up and attended school in the area, before settling in the Martha community. On August 12, 1935, J. D. was united in marriage to Juanita White at Altus. Together they enjoyed more than sixty years of marriage. J. D. served in the United States Navy during World War II, after which he moved back to Martha to work as a custom combine operator. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: three children, Nelda Osborne of Plattsburg, New York, Robert Hamilton and wife Joann of Kansas City, Kansas and Beth Woodruff and husband Len of Frisco, Texas; two sisters, Roberta McDuffey of Gatesville, Texas and Wynell Hawkins of Lindale, Texas; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

J. D. was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita in January 1996, his parents and two brothers, Harold and Elvin.
