Obituary for Jackie Lee Russell
Jackie Lee Russell, age 64, a lifelong resident of Altus, passed away Monday, September 15, 2008 at his home in Altus.
Jackie was born in Altus on October 2, 1943 to Lloyd and Hazel (Allen) Russell. In 1957 when JAckie was 13 years old he joined the U.S. Army and later was in the Oklahoma National Guard for several years and received an honorable discharge. He attended Trinity Baptist Church in Altus and worked as a truck driver for Jewett Scott Trucking of Mangum for over 32 years. Russell liked fishing, playing dominoes, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends who he loved very much.
Preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Russell; and one grandson, Brett Englett; Jackie is survived by his mother, Hazel Russell of Altus; two children, Jackie Russell, Jr.; Sharon Smith and her husband Guy of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Odie Russell and his wife Shirley of Hobbs, New Mexico; Donnie Russell of Vernon, Texas; one sister, Brenda Shirley of Altus; four grandchildren, Della Josh, Chris and Christy; three great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and many friends.
Services for Jackie Lee Russell will be at the Prairie Hill Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2008 with Brother Boyd Whitehead officiating.
