James Albert Barton was born October 8th, 1879 in Texas to Mr. and Mrs. James Barton. He married Minnie Rachel and she preceded him in death January 28, 1962. He is survived by four daughters Mrs Emmett Tyner, Lubbock, Texas, Mrs Bud Smith, Altus, Oklahoma, Mrs Ralph Azlin, Monroe, Louisiana, Mrs George Zint, Amarillo, Texas, Five sons: Kirby Barton, Redwood, California, Fred Barton, El Paso, Texas, A. G. Barton, Plainview, Texas, Donis Barton, Harleton, Texas and R. E. Barton, Amarillo, Texas: one sister: Mrs Mae Merryman, Ennis, Texas. Also surviving are Twenty Three Grand Children and many great and great, great Grandchildren.
James had only lived in Altus for two years. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a retired farmer. At one time he ran a Help-UR-Self laundry and during World War II he operated a Maytag Appliance Store on South Main in Altus.
Services for James Albert Barton are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday May 10, 1971 at Tims Chapel of Memories with Gary Colley officiating, Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
