Obituary for James Brown

James Brown was born April 10, 1914 at Paris, TX. He was the son of the late Henry and Mae Ida Brown. He died February 13, 1996 at Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He had been a resident of Altus and Jackson County over 56 years before moving to Fremont, CA and to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania in August 1995. He was a member of the Sunset Baptist Church.

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, at the Sunset Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Bostic officiating. Interment will be in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

Survivors include: his wife, Ada Brown of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Doris Washington and husband Robert of Fremont, CA, Lou Ida Murray of Lebanon, TN and Barbara Ann Charles and husband Gregg of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Henry Brown of Dallas, TX and William Brown of Lawton, OK; two sisters, Juanita Fields of Lawton, OK and Lonnie Alexander of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a step-daughter, Eva Lois Wingfield; a brother, D.C. Brown.
