Obituary for James "JD" Freeman

James "J.D" "The Kid" David Freeman, 68, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away October 12, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

James was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on May 25, 1954, to Tommy Lee Freeman and Cora Lee Freeman. He was raised and educated in Hollis, Arizona, Texas, and graduated from Frederick High School. He moved to Altus, Oklahoma in 1972 and always considered Altus his hometown.

James enjoyed playing dominoes, spades while talking trash to his friends and family, shooting the breeze with his friends, fishing, cooking, listening to music he had a deep passion for the Blues such as the Manhattans, and the Temptations, and watching westerns. He loved all animals, but his dog Buddy held a special place in his heart. James and Buddy could be seen all over Altus walking everywhere together. Of all the things James enjoyed, he treasured being around his friends and family. To be a friend of James was to be a member of his family.

Having a relationship with Jesus Christ was an important part of James' life, he attended several churches in the Altus area such as Macedonia Baptist Church, St. John the Baptist Church, and the Door Church.

James was a hard-working man, he worked as a farm laborer and mechanic his whole life until he was forced to retire due to his health. He had an incredible ability to repair machinery and vehicles and could understand engine problems just by the sounds it made.

James leaves a legacy of compassion, friendship, and love for his community.
