Janice Ann Brendle, age 60, of Mangum, passed away at her home Friday April 22, 2011.
Ms. Brendle was born October 27, 1950 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Willis "Pokey" and Ermalene (Abrams) Matthews. A 1968 graduate of Mangum High School, Janice received her Bachelors" degree in Home Economics from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She spent her career as a homemaker, county extension agent in Texas and Oklahoma, and elementary school teacher. Janice taught in Mangum and Lone Wolf for over 20 years. Sewing, reading, and playing the piano were some of her pastimes, second only to the love of her family.
Preceded in death by her parents, Janice is survived by two daughters, Amanda Reimer and husband Mike of Mangum and Alice Deurmyer and husband Chris of Walters, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Brady Reimer and Thomas Reimer and Katie Deurmyer along with many other relatives, friends and students whom she dearly loved.
Funeral services for Janice Brendle will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday April 27, 2011 at the Mangum First United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Tabberer officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, April 26, 2011, from 6 until 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
