Obituary for Jean Kaye Braziel

Kaye Braziel, lifelong resident of Altus, Oklahoma left her Earthly home to join the arms of the Lord on December 1st, 2023 at the age of eighty-two.

On May 20th, 1941 in Altus, Oklahoma, James and Gladys Foster rejoiced at the birth of their daughter. Jean was raised and educated in Altus, graduating from Altus High School in 1959. After this, she went on to attend Altus Junior College, then Business School in Wichita Falls, Texas. Jean went on to work at the Altus Air Force Base and later as a secretary for Dr. Stine. She was passionate about her work up until her retirement in 1999. Her retirement didn't stop her from extending a helping hand to those around her. She will be greatly missed by her friends and her community.

Jean met the love of her life and other half, Avery Braziel. They were married on October 23rd, 1965 at the First Baptist Church of Altus, Oklahoma. The two of them made their home in Scottsdale, Arizona where they started their family. In their 59 years together, Jean and Avery made countless happy memories filled with their love for traveling and attending their children’s activities. Jean stayed by her husband's side, being the best wife she possibly could until his passing on December 26th, 2014. He greets her again at the pearly gates.

Jean was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Altus, Oklahoma. Jean was also a member of the Erolethian Club of Altus, Oklahoma and the Hot Rod Club in Colorado. Jean was a big sports fan. Her favorite baseball player was Willie Mays and her favorite football player was Tom Brady. She loved traveling, often visiting Boston and different lighthouses when she could. Jean loved cactus, Arizona, and turquoise jewelry. She loved listening to her Waylon Jennings records, often singing along. She was a woman with an amazing personality. Those around her knew her as someone with a strong spirit, no matter what happened.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Avery Braziel; father James Foster; mother Gladys Foster; and daughter Kelli Braziel Harris.
