Obituary for Jerome H. Adelman

A funeral service for Jerry Adelman will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, 1100 E. Tamarack Road, Altus, Oklahoma. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 10:00 am to 3:00pm on Friday.

Jerry Adelman of Dallas, Texas passed away October 16, 2001. He was born June 4, 1935 in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. Jerry moved to Oklahoma with his parents while still a teenager.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1952 during the Korean War. One of his proudest tours was as a Machinist Mate, 1st Class on U.S.S. Tarawa in Yoksosuka, Japan in 1954. Jerry was the youngest sailor on his aircraft carrier to achieve the ranking of Machinist Mate, 1st Class. after his tour in the U.S. Navy, Jerry served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard as Sargent 1st Class in the Combat Support Company First Battalion 279th Infantry. Jerry loved his country and was a proud to be a Veteran, He served his country proudly.

Jerry and Pat Hamilton were married December 28, 1962 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for more than 33 years.

Jerry loved serving his family, friends, neighbors and his two Yorkies- Precious and Mo. He felt that was his "calling". Jerry never met a stranger and always had a positive outlook on life. He began each day by saying "It's a great day to be alive". He had varied interests which included his favorite hobbies of playing the steel guitar, camping and reading. He was also a member of the National Rifle Associtation.

He was baptized in Park Lane Church of Christ in Altus Oklahoma in 1962.

Jerry is proceeded in death by his father Elmer Adelman in 1989 and his mother Marge Wilson in 1992.

Jerry is survived by his wife Pat of Dallas, Texas, son Jason of Dallas, Texas and daughter Jamie of Sacramento, California; stepfather Weldon Wilson, Altus, Oklahoma; sister and brother-in-laws Betty and U.S. Wilson, New Cuyama, California, Donna and Bob brown, Detroit, MI, Debbie and Darryl Pomisino, Taft, California; brother Matt Wilson, Altus, Oklahoma; thirteen nieces and nephews; eleven great nieces and nephews; one great-great niece.
