Jerry Luther Brown, age 68, of Altus, passed from this life on Friday, June 8, 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK.
He was born on May 27, 1944, to Luther and Edith Brown in Comanche, OK.
Jerry attended and graduated Waurika High School in 1962. He later attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and East Central University. Jerry joined the United States Navy in November of 1965, serving in Vietnam through 1968.
He married Betty Gowin on June 13, 1964 in Waurika, OK. They had one son and one daughter. Jerry moved to Altus in 1968 to join the family business, Brown"s Appliance Center, later named Brown"s Appliance & Furniture. Subsequently Jerry became involved in Real Estate and Property Management. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church for many years. Jerry also had an avid interest in politics, serving on the campaign committee of Gov. David Walters and the Oklahoma State Bond Commission.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Brown, on January 28, 1999 and Edith Brown on October, 9, 2010. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Littlejohn of San Antonio, TX and son, Jerry Lynn Brown, of Edmond, OK; brother, Donald P. Brown, of Yorba Linda, CA, and sister, Peggy (Brown) Pena, of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Ethan and Emily Littlejohn and a number of nieces and nephews.
A viewing for family and friends will be held at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Thursday, June 14th from 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be held at Southside Baptist Church on Friday, June 15th at 2pm.
