Obituary for Jessie LaVerne Jackson
LaVerne Chapman Jackson was born June 23, 1923 in Texas. She died March 1, 1992 at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. She married Billy Jackson April 15, 1955 in Vernon, Texas. She graduated from AHS in 1941. She attended Oklahoma University where she graduated from OU Nursing Program in 1944 as a Registered Nurse. She was Director of Nurses at JCMH from 1950-1971. She became the Director of Altus House Nursing Home 1971-1983 and Administrative Director of English Village Nursing Home from 1975-1982. She completed her Certified Nursing Home Administrative Degree in 1972 from OU. She developed the Nursing Home Wing and was Director of Nurses at the Frederick Hospital from 1985-1989 when she retired. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and of Oklahoma Nursing Home Administrators Association.

Services are scheduled for 10 A.M., Wednesday, March 4, 1992 at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home
Chapel with Sonny Tims officiating. Interment will be in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

LaVerne spent her life devoted and dedicated to the care of the elderly.

Survivors include: her husband, Bill Jackson of the home in Altus, OK; two children, Nita Jackson of Altus, OK and Bobby Jackson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a sister, Beulah Zachary of Ft. Worth, TX; one grandchild, Christopher Cameron Jackson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; three brothers, Lester, Cecil E., and Leonard Chapman; two sisters, Amanda Chandler and Clara B. Sommers.
