Obituary for Jesus Zepeda Gonzales
Jesus Zepeda "J.Z." Gonzales, age 91, longtime Altus resident, passed away Saturday, August 15, 1998, following a lengthy illness. A Rosary will be held at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
J. Z. was born May 31, 1907 in Campbellton, Texas to Gregorio and Louisa (Zepeda) Gonzales. He married Felisita Mauricio December 9, 1936, in Alas Casa County, Texas. Mrs. Gonzales preceded him in death. Mr. Gonzales had lived in Altus since 1963, having moved here from Eldorado, OK. He had farmed most of his life and was a devoted member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Felisita; one daughter, Viola Gonzales; and by two brothers and two sisters.
Mr.Gonzales is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Lydia and Ascension Armendariz of Altus, OK and Viola Tovar of Altus; two sisters, Arcilia Hernandez of San Antonio, TX and Rosa Elliott of Halliday, TX; and by two brothers, Juan Gonzales of San Antonio, TX and Alcario Gonzales of Pleasanton, TX.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as many friends and other relatives.
