Jewel Willis, 97, of Olustee, died May 18, 2017 at her home. She was born March 30, 1920 at Eldorado, Oklahoma to Forney and Buna Washburn Rudd. She was raised in Elmer, graduating from Elmer High School in 1939. She married Cecil Willis on July 15, 1939 in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he was employed. During World War II they moved to Oklahoma City and worked in aircraft plants, he in OCAD, now Tinker AFB, and she at Douglas Aircraft. After the war, they returned to Jackson County and bought a farm south of Olustee, built a home and lived there until he passed away in 1989. She continued to live on the farm as she enjoyed farming, gardening, and life on the farm in general. She was a member of the Olustee Church of Christ.
Jewel was preceded in death by her husband, both parents and a brother, Byrl Rudd of Elmer. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Murldean Rudd, nephews and nieces, Lynn Rudd, Max Rudd and wife Diann and their children, Benton Rudd and wife Jennifer, Allison Dollins and husband Kyle, and Jamison Rudd. Glenda Anderson, Joy Frank and husband C.D., Mertie Hartwig and husband W.A., Jim Willis and wife Paula, Paul Willis and wife Cherry.
Graveside rites will be at 10:00 am, Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Olustee Cemetery in Olustee, Oklahoma under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
