Jimmy A. Shrum, 67, passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at his home, in Russell, Oklahoma. Memorial services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2015 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Justin Wilson officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Jimmy was born April 5, 1948, in Quanah, Texas to James C. and Sudie Mae (Smith) Shrum. He lived the early years of his life in Eldorado, before moving to Olustee as a young teenager. Jimmy served in the US Army, returning to Olustee where he married Karen Doughten, in 1972. They never moved far from home, finally settling in Russell where they remained. Jimmy was a jack of all trades, but his favorite was heavy equipment and farming and raising cattle. Jimmy adored his children and grandchildren and loved to "show them how things are done".
Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother and father and his only brother, Eddie Glenn Shrum. He is survived by his wife, Karen of the home; three daughters, Mary Mae and Tony Guevara of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Christina and Allen Collins of Altus, Kerry Shrum of Altus; one son, Jimmy and Callista Shrum of Mangum, Oklahoma. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.
